Strigino serviced 122 thousand passengers during the Nizhniy Novgorod stage of the World Cup

The Strigino International Airport summarized operations during the period of FIFA World Cup matches in Nizhniy Novgorod. The Nizhniy Novgorod airport serviced 121,976 passengers fr om June 17 to July 7. This is 44,088 individuals or 57% above the like-for-like period in the last year.

Almost each third flight in the airport during days of World Cup matches was a charter one, with organized groups of fans, or an extra flight to the season schedule for carriage of fans: 288 out of 753 flights. 13,390 passengers were serviced on these flights.

The all-time high daily passenger traffic was recorded on June 22. The Strigino Airport serviced 9,510 individuals on the next day after the match between teams of Croatia and Argentina. The highest daily passenger traffic was updated three times in total during the World Cup days.

The main traffic in Nizhniy Novgorod during the World Cup period was generated with the destination in Moscow. 59,705 individuals were carried there, up 26,972 persons or 82% against the last year. Popular resort destinations - the Black Sea Coast of Russia and Crimea, Turkey, Greece, Spain, etc., continued enjoying the demand of Nizhniy Novgorod residents at the same time.

Nizhniy Novgorod was connected by flights with almost all cities wh ere World Cup matches were held during Mundial days.  St. Petersburg (4,046 persons serviced, +83% year-on-year), Sochi (4,482, +4%), Samara (804, +116%), Rostov-on-Don (1,775, new route), Kaliningrad (380, new route), Kazan (754, +5%), Ekaterinburg (473), and Volgograd, (723, new route).

Stockholm should be particularly noted among international destinations of Strigino. 2,481 passengers were serviced in this destination.
