Nizhny Novgorod Airport has set a historical record

For the first time in the last 20 years, monthly passenger traffic of PSC MANN numbered 95,000 travelers.

From January to June 2013 passenger traffic at Nizhny Novgorod Airport increased by 30, 8% compared to the same period last year and totaled 398,341. The maximum growth by 42.4% is recorded on international destinations: passenger flow amounted to 191,131 passengers. Passenger traffic on domestic flights rose to 207.210 showing a 21.7% increase.

In the last six months the number of departures climbed 22%. International freight and mail experienced a 17% increase (203 tones in bulk).

During the first six months the most «popular» destinations traditionally remain in the Top 5 of Nizhny Novgorod Airport, but they continue to demonstrate growth month by month:

1. Moscow (156,197 passengers, +20.6% compared to the same period of 2012)

2. Antalya (39,492 passengers, +4.7%)

3. Hurghada (30,270 passengers, +88.9%)

4. Sharm el-Sheikh (18,826 passengers, 2.2 times increment)

5. St. Petersburg (17 025 passengers, +15.6%)

«The growth of passenger traffic at Nizhny Novgorod Airport continues to outpace the industry average,» - noted MANN Executive Director Alexander Sinelnikov. «This has been achieved through a combination of factors: launching of new routes, increase in frequency with a glance to passenger convenience, competitive air ticket prices and improving of airport infrastructure. As a result, load factor is rising, and air travel is becoming more popular. Even those passengers who formerly chose other means of transport or preferred to travel via Moscow airports began to use Nizhny Novgorod Airport services.

All in all, over the past six months, 29 Russian and foreign airlines served Nizhny Novgorod Airport. Aeroflot (26.6% of all passengers), Utair (16.0%) and Ural Airlines (15.2%) remain the leaders.

Currently, you can fly from Nizhny Novgorod to 14 cities in Russia (Moscow, Anapa, Belgorod, Ekaterinburg, Kazan, Kirov, Norilsk, Penza, Samara, Sochi, St. Petersburg, Surgut, Ufa, and Chelyabinsk) and 24 cities abroad (Antalya, Baku, Burgas, Barcelona, Sofia, Dalaman, Dushanbe, Yerevan, Heraklion, Larnaca, Monastir, Namangan, Paphos, Prague, Podgorica, Pula, Rhodes, Thessaloniki, Simferopol, Tashkent, Tivat, Frankfurt, Hurghada, and Sharm el -Sheikh).

In June 2013, Nizhny Novgorod Airport served 95,346 passengers: 21.5% more year-on-year. And the main thing, passenger traffic in June is an absolute record, the airport has not seen such figures since 1993.

In the domestic sector last month, the passenger flow numbers continued to grow and reached 40,441 (21.6%) and international sector served 54,905 travelers (+21.5%). The departures demonstrated a 21.5% YoY increase (773).

In June, the most dynamic growth compared to the year ago period showed the following domestic destinations: Surgut (+91.2%), Ufa (+64.9%), Samara (+63.5%), Ekaterinburg (+43.6%), Kazan (+30.3). International routes to Rhodes (+130.8%), Heraklion (+76.5%), Simferopol (75.3%), Hurghada (64.6%), Frankfurt (51.2%) became most popular with Nizhny Novgorod citizens.

In addition, 3409 passengers were served in June under the program for regional traffic development. And just in three months 9670 passengers flew with a 50 per cent discount to Kazan, Ufa, Kirov, Penza and Samara.
