Strigino is updating its fleet of snow cleaning machines for the winter season

Strigino International Airport (belongs to Airports of Regions Group) has begun an active preparation for the autumn-and-winter period. On October 26, the Nizhny Novgorod air harbor switches to the winter timetable, at present the schedule is under preparation, airlines are making adjustments to their regular and charter programs. Meanwhile, personnel of all operational departments of the airport is passing theoretical and practical training, tests on operating procedures, rules and regulations of aviation security, compliance to aerodrome traffic diagrams, operation of custom equipment, regulations for labor protection, etc.

This year particular attention was paid to preparation of the runway, taxiways and the apron: a total area of repaired surface is greater than 9000 square meters. To clear snow and ice from the apron the airport bought the most modern and powerful airfield maintenance equipment. The GSE and repair service of Strigino has recently come into possession of a Zaugg high-speed snow blower from Switzerland. This machine makes it possible to cut roadway snow and throw it at a distance of 50 meters. Capacity - up to 5000 m3 per hour. Using such snow blower allows to replace three similar vehicles of national production.

This year Strigino shall also receive a Schmidt jet sweeper (the first was put into operation last winter). In the short term the airport will buy a tractor with additional attachments to clear the runway lights. Two machines will be used for deicing the aircraft. All in all in the autumn-and-winter period of 2014-2015 Strigino Airport will utilize more than 15 vehicles, acquired through an integrated program to update the fleet of custom equipment, and altogether Strigino operates124 vehicles and mechanical devices.
