Nizhny Novgorod airport handled more than 300,000 passengers year-to-date

In the 4 months of 2014 passenger traffic at Strigino (belongs to Airports of Regions Holding Company) demonstrated a 23.6% year-on-year growth rate and amounted to 279,098 passengers. The increment on domestic flights was 32.7% (173,434 passengers), international destinations recorded an increase of 11.1% (105,664 passengers). In view of passengers carried during the May holidays, the total passenger traffic at Nizhny Novgorod air hub passed a milestone of 300,000 passengers. Freight and mail handled in the first 4 months totaled more than 330 tons.

During the January-April period 26 airlines performed regular flights to 39 destinations. Top 5 directions as of the 4 months traditionally remained Moscow, Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh, St.Petersburg and Samara.

In April of 2014 Nizhny Novgorod International Airport served 78,307 passengers. That was 20.7% more than in the previous year. The number of departures was 4.9% higher year-over-year (706), the volume of handled freight and mail made up 88 tons.

The highest growth in passenger traffic in April was recorded on scheduled and charter destinations: Goa 80.1 %, Antalya 58.6 %, St. Petersburg 57.2 %, Yerevan 55.6 %, Sharm el Sheikh 46 7 %. Flights to Moscow remain persistently in high demand: 39,368 persons flew to the capital and back, the passenger flow on this route experienced a 37.7 % increase by comparison with the same period a year ago.

Most punctual airlines in April UTair-Express and S7 performed 94% of their flights on schedule.
