Despite the challenging economic situation in civil aviation at large and the losses incurred by airports, the holding tries to make its contribution to the joint effort of fighting the epidemic and overcoming its consequences. The initiative is informed by the aspiration to help the most vulnerable group and will be realized together with volunteer organizations and social security services which will spot specific addressees, ensuring the delivery of food kits to them. The action will last at least till April 15 as long as the lockdown for senior citizens is in force.
Participating in the action are the catering services of Koltsovo (Yekaterinburg), Kurumoch (Samara) and Platov (Rostov-on-Don) airports, all being part of the Airports of Regions holding.
The catering service of Strigino airport will daily make rations including breakfast, lunch and dinner for lonely retirees residing in Nizhny Novgorod Region. The given group is more in need of help than others under the lockdown regime because these people do not have any loved ones to support them. The rations made by the catering services of airports can make a significant contribution to providing hot meals for senior citizens in need.
We should remind that given the spread of the new COVID-19 coronavirus infection in Russia, most regions were obliged to introduce the lockdown regime for people older than 65 at their domicile or in other premises, including private homes, homesteads and garden cottages. The social security services are bound to support quarantined people in case they face any problems buying medicines and foods.
