Strigino Airport reviews performance results for H1 2021

Strigino International Airport (managed by Airports of Regions MC) delivered its services to about 530 thousand passengers in the first half of 2021, up 159% year-on-year. Compared to the same period of 2019 an increase is 25%. Flights to Russian cities were used by 457,000 people. The two capitals and South Russia’s resorts remained most popular destinations with Nizhny Novgorod’s residents. Rostov-on-Don, Ekaterinburg and Samara were also popular.
At the turn of the year, new routes were added to the airport’s timetable: direct scheduled flights to Astrakhan by UVT AERO and to Volgograd by Azimut Airlines. And starting in June, IrAero Airlines began operating flights to the city of Gelendzhik.
In the meantime, restrictions related to preventing the spread of COVID-19 infection markedly curbed passenger traffic to overseas destinations.
The first international flight after a break caused by the pandemic was made in February. By the end of June, the number of international destinations from Strigino already reached 14. Flights were operated to Antalya, Baku, Bishkek, Dushanbe, Yerevan, Cairo, Larnaca, Minsk, Osh, Paphos, Fergana, Sharjah, Khujand and Kulyab. The number of passengers flying to international destinations exceeded 70,000 (representing 58.7% of the 2019 figures).
A total of 14 airlines performed direct scheduled flights from Strigino to 30 destinations in the first half of 2021.
