The Construction of Phase One of the Passenger Terminal at Strigino Has Begun

Today Strigino international airport (belongs to Airports of Regions Holding Company) has begun the construction of phase one of the passenger terminal. A symbolic start for the construction was given by the Acting Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Valery Shantsev, Managing Director for Renova Group Evgeny Olkhovik, General Director for Airports of Regions Evgeny Chudnovsky and CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PSJ František Vaculík.

- Today we are making a very important step - in the shortest time a new passenger terminal will be constructed: it will comprise a modern arrival and departure area, necessary infrastructure and lounges. I am convinced that we will get a new gateway to our region, and everyone who arrives, will say "finally"! - said the Acting Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Valery Shantsev. - I would ask all companies that are involved in the construction process to work vigorously, smoothly, quickly and efficiently. Then we may afford to say that we have fulfilled our main mission. The region that gave the world such outstanding aviators as Nesterov and Chkalov deserves to have a beautiful, comfortable and convenient air gateway! Good luck!

- By the beginning of construction the airport had done a long but productive way: made a lease agreement for the land plot, received a building permit, executed a general agreement on the construction of phase one of the passenger terminal with Czech company PSJ, so it's safe to say that in half a year we will celebrate the housewarming in the new terminal - emphasized Managing Director for Renova Group Evgeny Olkhovik.

Commissioning of the new terminal for the VFD capital is scheduled for December 2015. Modern airport complex with a total area of 27.8 square meters will be equipped with four air bridges and its capacity will exceed 1.5 million people per year. Passengers will be able to check-in at 19 desks, in particular, one desk designed for bulky and oversized baggage, as well as a special check-in area for the groups with reduced mobility. For the comfort and convenience of passengers, spacious lounges and a mother and child are provided. Shops and cafes will be located on an area of over 1500 sq.m. A distinctive feature of the airport complex will be a modern automated baggage handling system and an automatic system for monitoring queues in the passenger handling areas. Car parking for more than 800 spaces is planned on the landside area. A provision is made for car parking spaces for the groups of persons with reduced mobility.

- It is important to note that the new terminal complex is a part of the large complex modernization program for Strigino airport including its federal part for the renovation of the apron, - said General Director for MC Airports of Regions Evgeny Chudnovsky. - Eighteen months later, Nizhny Novgorod will be proud of its passenger terminal - the first phase in implementing a large-scale renovation project.

On the basis of competitive negotiations Czech company PSJ was selected a general contractor for the construction of the first phase of the passenger terminal. Main spheres of activity: industrial and civil construction; transport construction; international construction; development activities; selected construction crafts. The company's construction portfolio includes diverse objects from the residential and commercial real estate to industrial and logistics facilities. PSJ, a.s is represented at international markets - in 25 countries.

- Our company has been at the Russian market for more than 20 years, and we have necessary experience and knowledge to help us meet our customer’s requirements - summed CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PSJ František Vaculík.
