Yesterday Nizhny Novgorod International Airport (belongs to Airports of Regions Group) gathered fans of aviation photography. A group of Nizhny Novgorod spotters was given a chance to come out into the airfield and for six hours capture aircraft takeoffs and landings, operations, aircraft and passenger handling. Bloggers also had access to the roof of the existing passenger terminal, where they were able to take unique photos.
The event started with the departure of Aeroflot’s Airbus A320 to Sheremetyevo Airport. This was followed by S7 Airline’s Airbus A319 and UTair-Express’s ATR-72 arrivals from Moscow, Dexter’s Pilatus-12 from Saratov, departures to Samara, Kirov and Nizhnekamsk Air taxi Dexter certainly became "The Hero of the Day", within a few hours of spotting the Pilatus took off and landed six times.
The demonstration of Strigino Airport’s new snow cleaners added diversity: the spotters could see how easily and effectively Schmidt jet sweepers clean the apron and how Zaugg snow blower collects snow and throws it dozens of meters away.
As for the aircraft, special interest of the spotters was attracted to the Superjet in original livery “75th Anniversary of Sukhoi”. The airliner was filmed from all sides on the parking stand and at the moment of departure (the plane performed a charter flight with a sports team going to competitions).
Plane spotting activities have already become a tradition for Strigino Airport. The next such event is planned for summer 2015.
