Passenger Traffic on Regional Flights from Strigino up 28.6%

The Strigino International Airport (member of the Airports of Regions Holding) posted growth of passengers preferring to fly to Russian regions and bypass Moscow airports by 28.6% in the first half of 2019. Over 97 thousand of Nizhniy Novgorod residents and city guests took advantage of direct regional flight services.

Further to Moscow and St. Petersburg, flights to Sochi, Rostov-on-Don and Samara enjoyed the highest popularity.

It is worth to note that several new interesting Russian destinations appeared at once lately in the Strigino International Airport (Krasnodar, Kaliningrad and Novosibirsk), demonstrating popularity of this kind of carriage among passengers.

Development of interregional air service is a government task set by the Russian President and enshrined in Decree of 07 May 2018 “On national goals and strategic objectives of development of Russia by 2024.” The Decree stipulates that the network of interregional scheduled passenger air routes bypassing Moscow should be expanded to 50 percent from the total number of domestic scheduled air routes.
