In May 2014 Nizhny Novgorod international airport (belongs to Airports of Regions Holding Company) served 110,757 passengers, which is 43.5% higher than the figure of the same prior year period. Domestic passenger flow rose by 40.4%, up to 50,564 people; while international flights experienced a 46.3% increase, up to 60,193 people. High performance figures allowed Nizhny Novgorod airport to renew its own record of passenger traffic - more than 100,000 passengers per month in the height of summer, in July and August, and this year this milestone was passed in the last month of spring.
The largest gain in passenger traffic in May was recorded on the following routes: Antalya (86.3%), Sharm el Sheikh (64.3%), Bangkok (60.6%), Larnaca (+70.6%), Monastir (a 4.9 times rise). Positive dynamics demonstrated domestic flights to Moscow (37.2%), Yekaterinburg (36%), Rostov-on-Don (a 7.2 times rise) Norilsk (43.6%), Perm (a 1.1 times rise), Belgorod (a 2.1 times rise), Nizhnekamsk (a 2.2 times rise), Penza (44.2%), Kirov (77.6%).
Most punctual airline in May was Lufthansa: the European career completed 88% of its flights on schedule.
In the first 5 months of 2014, total passenger traffic at Strigino airport amounted to 389,855 passengers (a 28.7% climb year-on-year), of which 223,998 were domestic (34.3%) and 165,857 (21.8%) - international. The aircraft movements numbered 3,481 (+18.2%), cargo and mail demand expended by 8.9% (430 tons).
During the January to May period 26 airlines performed scheduled flights to 47 destinations. Top 5 destinations in the five months were Moscow, Antalya, Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh and St. Petersburg - they accounted for more than 70% of total passenger traffic at the airport. The list of three leaders in the number of passengers is headed by Aeroflot - Russian Airlines, followed by North Wind and Ural Airlines.
